Beach Wheelchair for Kiama Downs Surf Club

Beach Wheelchair for Kiama Downs Surf Club

We want everyone to be able to enjoy the beach this summer.
In the last year at our practice you have all helped put over $14,000 of your gap fees towards projects including this new mobility chair on Jones Beach in Kiama Downs which is free for all to use.
This beach chair helps anyone with difficulty walking to safely enjoy the beach and splash their feet with friends and family.
Elderly and younger people have already started using it 🙂
Thanks so much to Kiama Downs Surf Life Savers for putting together the booking system, for continuing to keep our community safe and for making this town so inclusive and fun for everyone who lives here.
The chair can easily be booked on weekends and public holidays during the summer patrol season when Surf Life Savers are on duty. To book please click this link: bit.ly/jonesbeachchair
Please invite your friends or family to use the chair.
The best outcome is that it gets so heavily used that we have to sponsor another one every few years!
For other options locally:
1. Kiama Surf Beach / Kiama Surf Life Saving Club: ask a Life Saver, at the kiosk or call 4232 2038.
2. Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park, Gerroa: ask at the holiday park office or call 4234 1340
Please reach out to us if you know of any fantastic local or national community projects that you feel our practice team could work together with you on. We are focussed on sustainable, physical and mental health related projects 🙂

Thanks to The Bugle for running this story recently and thanks to the anonymous person(s) who tipped off ABC Illawarra! 🙂
We chatted to ABC shortly after this post went live about the beach access chair and other projects we’re supporting.
This all helps make sure that beach access chairs here (and at other places in the Illawarra) get used well and helps promote other health related programs that we support.
